‘Literature’ has no confinement or limitations or precincts. 'Eternal' is the only face that outlines its true form."

The Idea was to save the glorious literary heritage of Ravenshaw, to foster literary activities among Ravenshavians and the sole aim of this literary revolution was to inspire the fertile minds of Ravenshavians to strive for perfection. Identifying, uplifting and nourishing creativity was the main vision.
And thus born a Literary body named "Srushti Sahitya Sansad" on 30th October 2009. A number of Newspapers came forward to register this auspicious occasion for the years to come.

Saturday, October 31, 2009
Report by Dipti Ranjan Kanungo, Cuttack : With an aim to encourage literary activities among Ravenshavians, some boarders of New PG Hostel of Ravenshaw University have resolved to set up a literary body named Srushti Sahitya Sansad.
The idea behind Srushti Sahitya Sansad is to foster literary activities among Ravenshavians and the sole aim of this literary revolution is to inspire the fertile minds of Ravenshavians to strive for perfection. Identifying, uplifting and nourishing creativity is our main vision, said Bishwajeeban Mishra, the founder secretary of the organization and a postgraduate student of the Department of Computer Science.
We intend to urge the students especially the newcomers to realize the rich tradition of the heritage institution. The erstwhile Ravenshaw College was the cradle of ideas which has remarkably left an impact on our culture, literature, society and politics, said Bishwajeeban.
We are always noteworthy in our own spirit. Our forefathers are creators of literature and being their successors we have the potential too. It’ll be sacrilegious if we drag ourselves down by comparing our magazines to the magazines of the market, he opined.
He pointed out that Urmi and Jagaran, hostel magazines of West Hostel and East Hostel respectively, have been playing a seminal role in creating and shaping many poets, writers and scholars of the twentieth century Orissa, many of whom are today reckoned as enlightening stars in the galaxy of Oriya as well as English literature.
Eminent poets like Mayadhar Mansingh and many celebrated litterateurs of Orissa had been editors of these historic hostel magazines once upon a time during their stay in the hostels as boarders, he described further.
‘Srushti’ is the mouthpiece of Srushti Sahitya Sansad and a ‘creative scholastic proclamation’ of the New PG Hostel. Its 2010 edition or the third self-manifestation would be ready by December which would also incorporate poems and articles by international students who have joined the University this year, Bishwajeeban informed as the editor of the ambitious magazine.
Our mouthpiece ‘Srushti’ has not traveled so long but I am hopeful that it would be able to carve a niche in the world of literature in the years to come if we strive for perfection, he said optimistically.
